Job Interview Tips

-Prepare yourself in advance. The more you know about the employer and his needs, the better able you will be to suggest ways you can help to meet those needs. It is natural to be nervous during a job interview; however, the better prepared you are, the less nervous you will be.

-Be prompt! Do not arrive much too early and never arrive late. If you know that you are going to be late, notify the employer as soon as possible.

-Shake hands with the employer if he/she offers to do so.

-Sit up straight-don’t slouch!

-Do not smoke during the interview

-Be sure to complete applications completely, legibly, and correctly. If the answer to a question is "None" or "Not Applicable", write this in the space provided. Do not leave blank spaces.

-Answer all the employer’s questions accurately, honestly, frankly, and promptly. Speak with a feeling of confidence and enthusiasm. Use good English and maintain a businesslike manner.

-Do not criticize past employers or co-workers. The interviewer may assume that you are difficult to work with or that you don’t get along well with others.

-Thank the employer for interviewing you. Ask when you may call to learn of a decision. Write a thanks-for-the-interview letter.
