About SKHHA
The Southeastern Kentucky Housing and Homeless Alliance (SKHHA) was formed by four organizational members experienced in crisis and intervention programs to provide assistance to people and families who become homeless. The SKHHA includes the Kentucky Communities Economic Opportunities Council (KCEOC), Corbin United Effort, Emergency Christian Ministries, and Interfaith of Bell County who are working together to provide the Knox, Bell, and Whitley County areas with emergency assistance and follow-up care.
The SKHHA program gives these agencies the resources to provide comprehensive case management to clients in existing shelters which includes counseling and motivation, assistance in locating housing, employment, child care services, public assistance, short and long term goal setting, and after care services. SKHHA also provides transportation for homeless clients to employment opportunities, social service agencies, educational classes, etc. In addition, SKHHA also provides computer support for case management allowing them to interact with other agencies, be informed of new and vital information, and help train clients to obtain crucial computer literacy skills.
The SKHHA feels that this program will help strengthen the family and help them to work together in meeting their goals. The success of the program is based on the number of clients moving from the shelter and remaining in permanent housing successfully.
